Today I pondered the universe.
Today I came to a conclusion.
Today I found humanity's greatest gift.
I would share it with you but first!

Consider man; the apex predator.
Top of the food chain in a small planet tucked somewhere in the milky way.
We know we are on a timer.
For if global warming does not kill us,
overpopulation might, and if that doesn't get us
an asteroid -big and boisterous might do us in like it did our predecessors; the dinosaurs.
If man somehow survives all this then we are certain that sometime in the future, the sun -that bringer of life -would go berserk and implode in a supernovae as all stars do, ending all life in the galaxy. We know this, and yet we do not fear that, we fear aliens?!

I beg you to follow me still.
Consider a man, one man or a woman maybe.
We are on a timer still.
We begin to die the moment we are born
Drinking water -and yes I mean this literally -kills us.
Ever heard the phrase "All systems fail".
What do you think we are?
The same way a phone might just up and go crazy is the same way our skin cells might choose to react to the sun and become cancerous.
We know this, we know that however far we stretch our systems, death is the endgame.
We know this and yet we fear the thing, yet we fear a sharp object held by a friend.

This is possible you see because Humanity's greatest gift is willful denial. Sure, opposable thumbs are great but monkeys survive without them.
You might say "hey what about the brain",
Mehhh
Some pigs are smarter than us -it's not an insult, pigs are pretty smart and some are more equal than others. You might also say the greatest gifts are women.
Believe me, I am hard pressed -wink- to agree.
A hot summer's day offers many, many, wonderful "calling" sights but still our greatest gift is willful denial, the ability to forget the great danger and process the small ones we can handle. The spark of hope that there's somehow a chance in the bleakest of situations, that you might live to a hundred, two hundred, three hundred years when no one has done so in a thousand years. You might say then that the greatest gift is hope but remember, to have hope you must first be able to deny the totality of defeat.
Humanity's greatest gift my friend is denial. Oh and don't forget women.

Episode 4 “What is this!?”, he exclaimed as he stared at the young woman taking pictures obviously of him and Issac Brenya. Immediately, in spite of the fact that he was in an air conditioned room, he began to sweat. Isaac Brenya, popularly called IB, noticing the sudden change of mood of the Prime Minister asked what the matter was as he walked up to him.
